Ever since I became a Mac user I started going legal for a lot of stuff I used to download from other sources, such as softwares for instance. That was mainly because software for Windows tend to be a lot more expensive and I didn’t have access, let alone money to put on these stuff at that time anyway.
Now I’m in Japan where the access to everything is a lot easier when compared to Brazil and my job as a comic book colorist has brought me a completely different insight regarding content in general. With that in mind, I decided to go legal on the music world as well. Finally started purchasing content from iTunes Store and I’m loving it!
It’s really amazing how easy and convenient it is to have everything within your reach and completely synchronized with your iDevices. If it’s within your budget and it’s accessible to you, I strongly recommend you give iTunes Store a try.

Desde que eu me tornei um usuário de Macs eu comecei a adquirir legalmente coisas que eu costumava baixar de fontes duvidosas, como softwares por exemplo. Era mais porque software pra Windows costuma ser muito mais caro e de qualquer forma eu não tinha acesso, muito menos dinheiro pra investir nisso naquela época.
Agora eu estou no Japão, onde o acesso a tudo é muito mais fácil em comparação com o Brasil e o meu trabalho como colorista de quadrinhos me trouxa uma visão completamente diferente a respeito de conteúdo em geral. Com isso em mente, eu decidi ir para o lado legal da coisa no mundo da música também. Finalmente comecei a adquirir conteúdo da iTunes Store e estou adorando!
É incrível o quão fácil e conveniente é você ter tudo dentro de seu alcance e completamente sincronizado com os seus aparelhos da Apple. Se estiver dentro de seu orçamento e for de fácil acesso pra você, eu recomendo experimentarem a iTunes Store.
Não me despertou nem um pouco.

Didn’t wake me up at all.
Segunda-feira passada pudemos ver o eclipse total aqui no Japão as 7:30 da manhã, mas devido a minha falta de conhecimento, não consegui tirar foto do eclipse propriamente dito. Devido ao fato da lua estar completamente por trás do sol, a iluminação naquele dia estava bem diferente considerando que era de manhã bem cedo. A foto da rua não teve nenhum tipo de edição. A iluminação na rua estava exatamente daquele jeito.

Last Monday we had a full eclipse that could be contemplated here in Japan at 7:30 in the morning, but my lack of knowledge prevented me from capturing the sun properly. Due to the fact the moon was completely behind the sun, the lighting on that day was rather different, considering it was early in the morning. The street shot wasn’t post-processed at all. The lighting really was exactly as you see.
Hoje minha esposa me surpreendeu com um jantar muito especial: arroz, batata a moda alemã, peixe e camarão. Adorei!

Today my wife surprised me with a very special dinner: rice, German fashion potato, fish and shrimp. Loved it!
Sai pra testar o meu tripé hoje. Ainda preciso aprender a regular. Tem tanto botão e chave que eu fico perdido. Só fui reparar que o sensor e a lente tavam sujos depois que importei o vídeo em casa. Dá pra notar uns pontos pretos em algumas partes da imagem.
Pra variar fiz um timelapse. Errei o timing na hora de sair, o sol demorou pra baixar e a bateria acabou antes do sol de fato se pôr. Esse vídeo foi postado no meu outro canal do YouTube onde eu só posto coisas do Japão.

Went road testing my tripod today. I still need to learn how to set it up properly. The tripod has so many buttons and levers that it’s easy for me to get lost. Also, I only noticed the camera sensor and lens were dirty after I imported the video at home. You’ll notice some black spots in certain areas of the image.
As usual, this is yet another timelapse video. I got the wrong timing when I left home and it was a bit too early for the sun to go down and the camera battery ran out before it did. This video was uploaded to my other YouTube channel where I post Japan related stuff only.

Semana passada eu decidi parar um pouco de gastar dinheiro com coisas pequenas que apesar de eu gostar, me deixam mais longe de comprar o que eu realmente quero.
Minha esposa por saber que bateria é uma das coisas que eu mais gosto sempre me incentivou a comprar uma, mas eu nunca cheguei a de fato me focar nisso. Aqui no Japão, as baterias eletrônicas chegam a custar 1/3 do que custam no Brasil e decidi que era hora. Mas antes, preciso comprar tripé pra filmar, banqueta, máquina de chimbal e pedal duplo pra só então começar a guardar pra comprar a bateria. Quero tentar pegar a TD30KVS da Roland.
No começo dessa semana eu encomendei o tripé 055XPROB da Manfrotto junto com a cabeça 701HDV conforme recomendado pelo meu cunhado que é cinegrafista por profissão. Meu primeiro teste com o tripé foi surpreendente. É outro mundo. A cabeça do tripé muito suave pra fazer pan horizontal e vertical. E a base do tripé é toda de alumínio bem resistente.

Last week I decided to stop buying small things that even though are things I like, they prevent me from buying bigger stuff that I want more.
My wife knows drumming is one of my favorite activities and she always supported me to buy one for myself, but I never really got around to it. Here in Japan, a drum set may cost up to 1/3 of the price tag in Brazil, so I decided now is the time. But before, I need to buy a tripod for filming, a drum throne, hi-hat stand and double pedal and only then I’ll start saving for my kit. I want to try to get the Roland TD30KVS.
Earlier this week I ordered the Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod along with the 701HDV head, as per suggestion of my brother-in-law who’s a cameraman for a living. My first test with the tripod and head was very surprising. It’s like another world for me. The head is so smooth when you pan either vertically or horizontally. And the base is made of aluminum which makes for a very solid and sturdy tripod.
Almoço de hoje. Experimentamos o novo Chicken Crispy (novo aqui, não sei quanto a outros países). É basicamente um McChicken normal, mas com molho diferente. Gostei.
Aliás, uma coisa diferente no McChicken do Japão com relação ao do Brasil é o hamburger. O daqui tem pimenta. O do Brasil não.

Today’s lunch. We tried the new Chicken Crispy (at least it’s new around here, not sure about other countries). It’s basically the same old McChicken but with a different dressing. I like it though.
By the way, there’s one thing that the McChicken in Japan has that the one in Brazil doesn’t: pepper.

Há alguns meses atrás recebi uma ligação no Skype do Mike Deodato me convidando pra colorir um cartaz que ele estava fazendo para o show solo do comediante Leo Lins.
Confesso que foi surreal receber um convite desses de alguém que cresci acompanhando o trabalho e inclusive copiando alguns desenhos durante as aulas de desenho. Obviamente eu aceitei sem pensar duas vezes. Fiquei feliz de verdade de ser convidado por ele. Espero que possa fazer mais trabalhos com ele futuramente.

A few months ago I got a call from Mike Deodato inviting me to color a poster he was working on for the comedian Leo Lins’ solo show.
I confess it was surreal to be invited by someone whose work I grew up with, even copying some of his illustration work during the drawing classes I used to take early on. I obviously jumped right in without hesitating. I’m really happy for being personally invited by him. I hope I can work again with him in the future.
